Abstract:

Orhan Pamuk has written in his postmodern novel A Strange in My Mind, the most interesting aspect is that the formation of the text formed the subject of the text. The novel narrative shows its originality by combining the landscapes and especially the fantastic with the point of view, the policeman with the ordinary with a great skill. The novel leads the traces of the fourteen-year life story of a beef seller who migrated from Beyşehir to Istanbul from 1969 to 2012, while he witnesses the change of Istanbul around the interesting or ordinary events he experiences. If the ordinary protagonist of the novel makes Mevlut Karataş unusual, it’s a strange thing in his head. The novel, named after the Romantic British poet William Wordsworth, remains to the strange one that has inhabited every point of its integral structure with this intertext character. The strange and strange phenomenon in which Mevlut is questioning the strange in his mind in every event and situation he lives and in a sense he makes philosophy has a primary importance in the novel phenomenon and takes on a function that shapes him entirely. From this point of view, it will be seen that in a study that will be carried out at the vocabulary level that the strange word is taken over in the novel, it will see that this word has more meaning than given the name of the novel.
