Abstract:

As a result of the centuries-long state traditions in the EU member countries, common principles such as the rule of law, representative democracy, the threshold of the democracy of local governments, local governments come to work with elections, the realization of needs by the closest public organizations, local autonomy and governance are adopted. But despite the common principles, a single level local government structure has not been established. Although there is no standard local government structure within the EU, some similar practices can also be expressed. In this study, the local governance structures of the EU member countries were reviewed in a summary and attempted to express some common practices with differences.
