Abstract:

During the period between 1980 and 2000, the rise of the extreme right-wing parties was tried to be understood by voters who voted for these parties. Under the influence of the conceptualization of "normal pathology", more attention has been given to "request-oriented explanations". However, in the period after 2000 it has been seen that only “determinations in demand” cannot explain the varied success of the extreme right-wing parties between countries. In a environment where the validity of the claims of the "Normal pathology" is questioned, the circumstances affecting the voters' tendencies towards the extreme-right parties, the direction to the "right-oriented statements" where the extreme-right parties themselves and the political system in the country in which they operate are also analyzed. In the end, not separately, there has been an agreement of ideas that will be correct to deal with supply and demand-oriented explanations together. This study will discuss the rise of the extreme right-wing parties in Western Europe in the past 30-40 years, the theories and approaches mentioned. For this, first we will briefly explain which parties are mentioned, then we will briefly discuss the development stages of the work of the extreme right party in the post-war period, and finally we will make a detailed analysis of the theories that explain the rise of the extreme right parties.
