Abstract:

Famous French writer Emile Zola has made himself ideal to find the truth throughout his life. In the light of this ideal, he gave the most immortal works of the world of literature. It was the first novel by the writer, Thérèse Raquin, published in 1867. The novel was translated from French to our language by different translators in different periods. Having multiple translations of the novel enables a multi-purpose and multi-purpose research plan. In this context, our work aims to study the works made by different years and different translators in theory and strategy in the light of Toury’s Erek-Focused Translation Approach. In this context, Emile Zola’s novel “Thérèse Raquin” was studied in terms of “acceptability” and “quality” standards, and also focused on the strategies and translation processes used. Toury talks about two new concepts. These are “quality” and “acceptable”. The source meaning from the concept of "quality" is to remain faithful to the text, and what meaning from the concept of "acceptable" is the goal, that is, compliance with the principles and rules of the male language. The main objective is to provide a "equality" in every case. In the findings of the study, the analysis of the work called "Thérèse Raquin" was carried out. According to the findings obtained in the study, three different translations have been shown to benefit from the strategy of borrowing, extracting, changing localization and adding to translation texts. There are natural differences between translations.
