Abstract:

The purpose of the study is to explore the relationship between the levels of understanding that students are listening to and their academic achievements and how the levels of understanding that students are listening to contribute to their academic achievements. This research is a research in the relative scanning model and is an imaginary study. While the universe of research is formed by all high school students who study in the center of the province of Kırşehir, the sample of the research was formed by 444 students who are studying in a total of 7 official high school in the center of the province of Kırşehir. In the selection of the sample, the method of maximum diversity of the target sample types was adopted, in this context, taking into account the ability to represent the universe, the sample was included in students who are studying in regions with different socio-economic backgrounds. As a data collection tool, the researcher used the "Sleeping Test 1" and "Sleeping Test 2" prepared by taking the expert opinion and performing the necessary material analysis. Students’ academic success points in Turkish, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Social Information, Religious Culture, English courses were determined and 2016-2017 educational year from Basic Education to Secondary Education Transition Exam (TEOG) 1 and TEOG 2 exam points were used. In the analysis of the data in the study; to study the relationship between the levels of understanding that students listen to and their academic achievements, the Pearson moment interruption correlation ratio technique was used, while to study the ability of the levels of understanding that students listen to to record their academic achievements, the simple linear regression analysis technique was used. The data processing has been used by the SPSS 21.0 statistical package program. The study resulted in the conclusion that the listening tests have a significant and high positive relationship between the arithmetic average and the academic success in Turkish, mathematics, science and technology, social information, English, religious culture courses. It has also been understood that the level of understanding the skill you listen to is an important contributor to academic success.
