Özet:

The field of the declarative and non-declarative statements is considered one of the two essential bases on which the rhetorical semantics stand, the other being the research fields of Versification, which was explained in details by (Abdul-Qahir Al-Jurjani) in his book (Dalae’l Al-E’jaz) in the tenth century. Thus, many considered him the creator of rhetorical semantics; and while the field of versification was extensively studied, the problems considering the declarative and non-declarative speech were not explored enough, especially that they were the first core of the rhetorical semantics. The research is following the early beginnings of this science, since the times of the Greek philosophers and the Muslim linguist-philosophers affected by them, and its connection to the concept of truth and falsity, then its transmission to the field of linguistic research. According to this view, the speech, after several centuries, was divided into two main types: the declarative and the non-declarative, and was later formed as a framework for the semantics in the Arabic rhetorics. Since (Al-Sakkaki) put the earliest design for it in the eleventh century, and the alterations added to it by (Al-Qazwini) in the twelfth, the research is exploring the historical development of the concepts of the declarative and non-declarative, mentioning the details, which might not be explained in the rhetoric’s literature, and aims to give a clearer picture for this research field and answer the main questions regarding it.
