Description: The purpose of this study is to examine the views of candidate history teachers on the use of museums for educational purposes, the events carried out in the museum and the Jandarma Museum. The change in the understanding of music has brought the museum’s educational function to the forefront. The museums can be used for learning and teaching in all forms of education. This study is a qualitative research in the visual scan model. The work group used in the research is the fifth-class students of the History Teaching Department at an educational faculty of a state university in Ankara in the 2016-2017 educational year. The study addressed the participants their feelings and thoughts during the museum trip, their attitudes towards the museum education and questions about the Jandarma museum. As a result of the study, the teacher candidates have expressed their positive opinions about the need for museum training, their contribution to permanent learning, that the Jandarma Museum is a comprehensive museum that can be effectively used in history teaching, that the events in the museum make the trip fun and durable, despite their first meeting with a military museum.   The aim of this study is to examine the views of candidate history teachers about the use of museums for educational purposes, activities in the museum and the Gendarmerie Museum. The change in the understanding of museology has brought the educational function of the museum to the forefront. Museums can be used for teaching and learning at all levels of education. This study is a qualitative research in descriptive survey model. The study group used in the research is the fifth grade students in the Department of History Teaching in the Faculty of Education of a public university in Ankara in the 2016-2017 academic year. The participants were asked about their feelings and thoughts during the museum visit, their attitudes towards museum education and the questions of the Gendarmerie Museum. As a result of the study, prospective teachers; the necessity of museum education, their contribution to lasting learning, the Gendarmerie museum is a comprehensive museum that can be used effectively in history teaching, the activities made in the museum make the trip fun and lasting, even though they met with a military museum for the first time they expressed their positive thoughts about these museums.
