Abstract:

The concept of development has been on the agenda of the countries for many years, especially 2. After the World War, the importance has increased. With the emergence of the concepts of local and regional development, human capital has gained importance in the local economy. While human capital contributes to education, the health level of the countries also contributes significantly to human capital. Today, a healthy society and a qualified labour force are of great importance for economic growth. The development of people’s health levels in society accelerates economic development. The impact of a healthy and productive workforce will be positive. In the development of a healthy society and the workforce, the most important service providers come to us as hospitals. The level of technology and equipment that hospitals have achieved and the spending they have made in the areas where hospitals are located, the employment they provide, the taxes they have paid affect local development. This study first discussed the local development, which is an important concept for economies, then described the hospital spending and spending types and finally described the employment, income, tax and impact of hospital spending on local development. The study was limited in terms of health expenditure, which is a wider concept, and only the effects of hospital expenditure on local development were described. The study of the broad literature made in the areas where they were found that hospitals have a positive impact on rural development in terms of employment, income, taxes and impact.
