Ergenlerde Kişilik Tipleri ile Problem Odaklı Stresle Başaçıkma Tarzı Arasındaki Doğrudan ve Dolaylı İlişkiler: Bilişsel Esnekliğin Aracılık Rolü

Abstract:

Bu araştırmanın ilk amacı, ergenlerde kişilik tipleri, problem odaklı stresle başaçıkma tarzı ve bilişsel esneklik arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. İkinci amacı ise, bilişsel esnekliğin kişilik tipleri ve stresle problem odaklı başaçıkma tarzı arasında ilişkide aracılık rolü olup olmadığını belirlemektir. Bu amaçla, 293’ü (%63) kadın, 172’si (%37) erkek toplam 465 ergenden veri toplanmıştır. Veri toplama araçları olarak, Beş Faktör Kişilik Ölçeği, Stresle Başa Çıkma Tarzları Ölçeği ve Bilişsel Esneklik Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde korelasyon katsayısı ve yol analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre, ergenlerin dışa dönüklük, yumuşak başlılık, dürüstlük ve açıklık gibi olumlu kişilik tipleri ile stresle problem odaklı başaçıkma ve bilişsel esneklik arasında pozitif yönde anlamlı ilişkiler bulunmaktadır. Buna karşın, nevrotiklik kişilik tipi ile problem odaklı stresle başaçıkma ve bilişsel esneklik arasında negatif yönde anlamlı ilişki bulunmaktadır. Aracılık analizine ilişkin bulgular incelendiğinde, kişilik tipleri ile problem odaklı stresle başa çıkma tarzı arasındaki ilişkide bilişsel esneklik kısmi aracılık işlevi görmektedir. Diğer bir ifadeyle, kişilik tipleri ile problem odaklı stresle başaçıkma arasında hem doğrudan ilişkiler anlamlıdır hem de bilişsel esneklik aracılığıyla oluşan dolaylı ilişkiler anlamlıdır. Elde edilen bulgular alanyazın çerçevesinde tartışılmış ve yorumlanmıştır

Abstract:

The first purpose of this study is to study the relationship between the personality types in adolescents, the way to cope with problem-oriented stress and cognitive flexibility. The second goal is to determine whether cognitive flexibility has a mediation role in the relationship between personality types and the stress-oriented way of dealing with problems. For this purpose, 293 (63%) women and 172 (37%) men have collected data from a total of 465 ergens. As data collection tools, the five-factor personality scale, the scale of stress-dealing styles and the scale of cognitive flexibility have been used. In the analysis of the data, the correlation ratio and path analysis were used. According to the findings obtained from the research, there are positive relationships between the positive personality types of adolescents, such as outward orientation, soft headline, honesty and transparency, and stress-oriented problem-oriented dealing and cognitive flexibility. Nevertheless, there is a meaningful relationship in the negative direction between the neuroticity personality type and problem-oriented stress and cognitive flexibility. When the findings relating to mediation analysis are studied, cognitive flexibility in the relationship between personality types and the way of dealing with problem-oriented stress is partly mediated. In other words, both direct relationships between personality types and problem-oriented stress are meaningful and indirect relationships formed through cognitive flexibility are meaningful. The first aim of this research is to examine the relationship between personality types, problem-focused stress coping style, and cognitive flexibility in adolescents. The second aim is to determine whether cognitive flexibility plays a mediating role in relationship between personality types and problem-oriented coping styles. For this purpose, data were collected from 465 adolescents (293 (63%) women and 172 (37%) men). Five Factor Personality Scale, Coping Style Scale and Cognitive Flexibility Scale were used as data collection tools. Correlation coefficient and path analysis were used in the analysis of the data. According to the findings obtained from the research, positive personality types such as extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness and openness of the adolescents have significant positive relationships between problemfocused coping style and cognitive flexibility. On the other hand, there was a significant negative correlation between neuroticism personality type and problemfocused coping style and cognitive flexibility. When the findings of mediation analysis are examined, it has been found that cognitive flexibility has partially mediation role in relationships between personality types and problem-focused coping style. In other words, both direct relationships between personality types and problem-focused coping are meaningful, as well as indirect implications through cognitive flexibility. The findings were discussed and interpreted in light of the literature.
