The aim of this study is to investigate the experiences of student teachers toward the use of internet. The sample group consisted of 165 student teachers from 6 different programs (English, Science, Physics, Geography, Social Studies and Primary –school- Teaching departments) of Marmara University Atatürk Education Faculty in 2003-2004 academic year. The data about the internet experiences of student teachers were collected by using 12 item questionnaire developed by the researchers. Some of the major results are as follows: (1) 52,1% of student teachers have computers at home and only 47,7% of student teachers have internet connection among who have computers at home; (2) Majority of student teachers (89,6%) have e-mail addresses but on the other hand only few of them (11,7%) have web-pages; (3) Most of the student teachers (93,1%) reported that they have opportunity to reach and use internet easily around them and the most preferred place for 53,8% of them is internet cafes. The striking result for that point is that only 6,9% of student teachers reported the university for the ease of using internet.; (4) The majority of student teachers (44,1%) perceive themselves moderately efficient for using internet; (5) 41,5% of student teachers use internet between 2-5 hours in a week and (6) 46,5% of student teachers reported that they frequently use internet for making homework and 43,9% of them for sending e-mail. The implications of these results are discussed in terms of teacher education comparing with other researches.
