Abstract:

In the present study, similarities of results of working field and conclusions reached between antropogie and semantics were studied based on ‘La Pensee Sauvage’ by Levi Strauss. Antropologie is a science disipline interested in roots, changes and characteristics of human beings and phsysical and spiritual ways and systems of lifes created by human beings. Semantics is also a science disipline interested in understanding of language system which has its own rules and procedures spesific to it. These two science disiplines work on cultures and language systems created by human beings. The results of observations of antropologists investigating primitive societies and scientists working on semantics investigating language indicate that the definition, understanding or basic characteristics related to the nature of human beings either lived in primitive tribe period or living in the century of knowledge stay unchanged over centuries although changed in terms of form. Communication systems of primitive societies and language systems used today are built on some unchanged common foundations in spite of the time elapsed, improved culture and technology. Some of these common characteristics are; Both communication systems of primitive societies and language systems used today are common parts because both are big systems. They both have a certain structure and logics of classification. They both move from motivation to immotivation and enumeration. Their elements gain a meaning according to context. These elements are symbolic and can be considered as diachronic and synchronic. Looking from this perspective, it becomes meaningless to evaluate societies with classifications such as primitive, modern, developed, or undeveloped.
