Abstract:

ABSTRACT Research and analysis work over the Turkey Turkish dialects has been conducted for about 150 years. Having attaracted the local researchers since 1940, these studies have increasingly gained momentum in academic level for the last 40 years. Accordingly, a * Okt. These studies particularly based on collecting texts have been increasingly carried out unintermittently since they were started in our country. Discussed in this study, is the status of completion of the provincial and the district dialects in academic level in Turkey. Aimed herewith is to provide concrete data for those who are interested in studying Turkey Turkish dialects. To this end, a list is included to determine any provinces and districts for which dialects were studied on graduate level and or vice versa. Also included are tables showing the districts and provinces where such studies have been completed. Finally, the completed dialect studies were tabulated according to the Anatolia dialects classification by Professor Leyla Karahan. Data fort his study listing the graduate studies in over universities upto October 2012, were taken from the Bibliography of Turkey Turkish Dialects by Professor Tuncer Gülensoy and Associate Professor Ercan Alkaya, in addition to the thesis search page of The National Thesis Center of the Council for Hıgher Educatıon (YOK). It was found out at the end of the assesment that no studies have been made on dialects of nineteen provinces despite the fact that there have been a number of such studies on the dialects of a good many dwellings including cities and towns within the borders. Accordingly, it was determined that dialect studies for 135 out of 852 towns in Turkey have been completed.
