I. Balkan Savaşı’nda Bulgaristan, Yunanistan, Sırbistan ve Karadağ’ın dâhil olduğu Balkanlı müttefiklere karşı mücadele eden Osmanlı Devleti, savaşın sonucunda Balkanlarda sahip olduğu toprakların neredeyse tamamını terk etmek zorunda kalmış ve bu durum devletin yıkılış sürecini hızlandıran etkenlerden biri olmuştur. Bununla birlikte Balkan Savaşları Türk tarihi açısından vatan toprağının ne kadar önemli olduğunun altını çizerken, her daim övgü ile bahsedilecek kahramanlıklara da sahne olmuştur. Öyle ki savaş sırasında konumu itibariyle merkeze en uzak şehir olan İşkodra, tüm olumsuz ve zor şartlara rağmen Hasan Rıza Paşa kumandasında Karadağ ve Sırp destek kuvvetlerine karşı gösterdiği 6,5 aylık müdafaa ile birlikte en son kaybedilen kale olması bakımından önem teşkil etmektedir.
The Ottoman State, which fought against the Balkan allies, including Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia and the Black Sea, during the First Balkan War, was forced to leave almost all its territory in the Balkans as a result of the war, and this was one of the factors that accelerated the state’s collapse process. However, while the Balkan Wars illustrate the importance of the country’s land in the Turkish history, it has always been a scene of heroisms to be mentioned with praise. Thus, the city of İşkodra, which is central to its location during the war, is important in terms of being the loss of the castle with a 6.5 month of defense against the Black and Serbian support forces in the Hasan Rıza Pasha command, despite all the negative and difficult conditions.
