The relationships between the student teachers’ success levels of the lessons and the reasons for choosing the physics department have been stated in studies made by researcher. For this aim it is necessary to analyse the kinds of relationships between the student teachers’ success levels of the lessons and the reasons for choosing the physics departments. Hence, this study mainly analyses physics student teachers’ choosing of physics department on their success of mechanical topics. The samples of the study are about 500 students who are registered with the physics department of five different faculties. As a research tool an achievement test with 25 items consisted of the mechanic topics whose reliability and validity have been proved by the experts was used. In the analysis of data frequency, percentage and arithmetical mean are researched. It has been found that those who chose the physics department with their own desires have been more successful in physics lessons than those chose the physics department with other reasons. For this reason, first of all, the job of teaching must be attractive and interesting and those who have an interest and curiosity towards physics education must choose the physics departments.
