The teacher training programs held by the faculties of education in Turkey are composed of three main fields such as knowledge of area of study, knowledge of formation of teaching skills and general knowledge. The sufficiency of these knowl- edge and skills gained in school atmosphere is a matter to take into consideration in terms of their efficiency in professional life. This study is carried out in order to determine the opinions of teachers and teacher candidates about the sufficiency of formation courses. A questionnaire with eight questions is used in order to determine the opin- ions of 1262 teacher candidates studying their last year at the department of Physical Education and Sports and who completed the formation courses and 150 teachers of Physical Education ad Sports in different cities. The data obtained is analyzed in terms of frequency and percentage in SPSS statistics packet programme for Win- dows. As a result of this study, it is determined that formation courses are not found sufficient in teachers’ professional lives while teacher candidates have oppo- site opinions. It is also decided that feasibility and efficiency of formation courses could be increased via additional in-service training programmes and formation courses in some certain periods of teachers’ professional lives in order to update information about these courses and remind them.
