Abstract:

This research was conducted in the context of the "Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching" model on the "point, correct, flat, correct part, angle" and "light" concepts of the mathematical teacher's candidates, with the aim of studying the general field knowledge. The research is carried out with a complete one-state study pattern of research methods. The research study group consists of 53 teachers candidates who continue to study in a university's primary mathematical teaching bachelor's program in the 2017-2018 educational-educational year in the Anatolian Region. For the purpose of collecting research data, the interview form "Basic Geometry Concepts" was developed by the researcher, prepared in an open-end questionnaire format. Imaginary analysis techniques have been used in the analysis of the data obtained. During the analysis of the research data in the definitions of the concepts, MEB’s 2017-2018 curriculum books were taken as reference. Research findings show that the teaching candidates made many mistakes in the explanation and that the concepts that they remain insufficient are the concepts of "range" and "open". It has also been identified that teachers candidates have superficial knowledge about the characteristics of the basic geometry concepts and have deficiencies in general field knowledge.
