Abstract:

The World has been urbanizing rapidly and some problems related to the quality of urban life has been increasing sharply. Cities have been evaluated in the context of various life parameters such as; population, housing, employment, health, safety, environment, political rights and citizenship. Geographical information systems (GIS) have been implemented in all stages of these areas. At this point, it is clear that GIS has positive impacts on our daily life. In this paper, firstly, quality of urban life and geographical information systems have been examined at the conceptual level, and historical development of (GIS) has been elaborated and finally have been mentioned about some implementations of geographical information systems in our urban life.
