Abstract:

This study aims to reveal the current situation in accordance with the opinions of teachers teaching in the preparatory classes of the university within the framework of the intercultural approach and in accordance with the classroom practices. In this context, the analysis of the situation was made using the quality method. During the good period of the 2017/2018 academic year, three teachers who taught German at the University’s Higher School of Foreign Languages were identified as participants. The data, observation and conversation have been obtained, and the semi-configured conversation questions have been used as a data collection tool.  The study was followed for 10 weeks and the results of the study were obtained. These findings were addressed by comparing the teachers’ inter-class practices, the methods they used, and the data obtained from the interview. The research has shown that teachers do not have enough intercultural approach in their classes and have little knowledge about this approach. In this context, the need for inter-cultural education and the need for universities to be included in the curriculum was pointed out to the need for inter-cultural approach to be applied by teachers and to be included in foreign language courses. It is also recommended that the teaching staff and student collaboration to develop inter-cultural language skills make communication projects.
