Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the subjects of media literacy taught widely in lessons of life studies and, based on the findings of these studies, to make suggestions regarding integration of media literacy subjects with life studies curricula in Turkey. The examples ofstandards in the levels of 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades have been examined and standards thought to be compatible with the contents of life studies course have been subjected to content analysis. The results of content analysis carried out during this study are presented under two separate headings, namely "Health Education" and "Social Studies". Finally, media literacy subjects have been integrated into the Life Studies Instructional Curriculum as “sub-discipline” based on the results of content analysis.
