Türkiye'de, sanayileşme süreci ile birlikte yaşanan iç göçler sonucunda kentlerde çarpık ve plansız yapılaşmalar yani gecekondulaşmalar oluşmaya başlamıştır. Bu olgu bir yandan şehir kültürünün olumsuz olarak etkilenmesine, diğer yandan da bu bölgelerde güvenlik, sağlık ve sosyal konularda yeni problemlerin ortaya çıkmasına neden olmaktadır. Kentleşmeyle beraber değişen mahalle yapısı, insanlar arasındaki ilişkiler ve etkileşimler açısından önem taşımaktadır. Bu nedenle mahalle, sokak ve komşuluk kavramları kapsamında, mahalle sınırları içerisindeki sosyal ilişkilerin boyutunu incelemek gerekmektedir. Bu çalışma ile Fikirtepe mahallesinde yaşayan insanların oluşturdukları sosyal ağlar, komşuluk ilişkileri, çocukların ve yetişkinlerin mahalledeki yaşam biçimleri tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Ayrıca kentsel dönüşüm projesi bağlamında İstanbul Fikirtepe mahallesinin tarihi, İstanbul içindeki konumu, bölgede yaşayan insanların sosyal ve kültürel özellikleri incelenmektedir. Türkiye'de kentsel dönüşüm projeleri daha çok kentsel yenileme şeklinde görülmekte ve değişim sadece kent dokusunda değil sosyal dokuda da gerçekleşmektedir. Fikirtepe gecekondu bölgesi dönüşümden sonra alt ve orta gelirli insanların değil yüksek gelirli insanların yerleşeceği şekilde projelendirilmiştir. Bölgede yaşayan insanlar dönüşümden sonra bir daha Fikirtepe'de yaşayamayacaklarından dolayı, dönüşümün sadece fiziki yapıyı değil sosyal ve kültürel yapıyı da etkileyeceğinden endişe duymaktadırlar. Bu nedenle çalışmamızda Fikirtepe insanının dönüşüme bakışı, Fikirtepe'de yaşayan 3 kuşağı temsil eden kişilerle görüşülerek yansıtılmaya çalışılmıştır. Böylece tarihi ve sosyolojik bağlamda mahalle kültürünün ve kimliğinin nasıl etkileneceği araştırılmıştır. Çünkü mahallede dönüşüm projesinden sonra bir takım değişimler ve çözülmeler görülmeye başlanmıştır. Gözlem ve görüşmelerden anlaşıldığına göre, mahalleli arasındaki ilişkiler daha şimdiden farklılaşmaya başlamıştır. Çalışmada mahalle sakinlerinin sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik beklentileri arasındaki bu bölünmüşlük durumu ortaya konulmuştur.
In Turkey, as a result of domestic immigrations that are experienced along with the process of industrialization, crashed and unplanned structures in the cities have begun to form, i.e. gecondulations. This phenomenon, on the one hand, has a negative impact on the city culture, and on the other hand, there are new problems in security, health and social matters in these areas. The neighborhood structure, which changes with urbanization, is important in terms of relationships and interactions between people. Therefore, within the framework of neighborhood, street and neighborhood concepts, the size of social relations within neighborhood borders is to be examined. This study has been aimed at identifying social networks, neighborhood relationships, the way children and adults live in the neighborhood. Also, in the context of the urban transformation project, the history of the Istanbul Fikirtepe neighborhood, its location in Istanbul, the social and cultural characteristics of people living in the region are studied. In Turkey, urban transformation projects are more seen in the form of urban renewal, and the change occurs not only in the urban tissue, but also in the social tissue. The idea is that the Gecondu region after the transformation was designed not for low and middle-income people, but for high-income people to settle. As people living in the region are concerned that they will not be able to live in the Ideas again after the transformation, the transformation will affect not only the physical structure, but also the social and cultural structure. Therefore, in our work, the view of the transformation of the Fikirtepe man was tried to be reflected by discussing the people who represent the three generations living in the Fikirtepe. So it was studied how the neighborhood culture and identity would be influenced in the historical and sociological context. After the construction process, a number of changes and changes began to be seen. As seen from the observations and discussions, the relations between the neighbors have already begun to differ. The study revealed the situation of this division between the social, cultural and economic expectations of the neighborhood residents.
In Turkey, as a result of internal migration experienced with the process of industrialization, crooked and unplanned housing, or squatters, has been begun to be seen in the cities. On the one hand, this phenomenon leads to negatively impact on the culture of the city and on the other hand, to the emergence of new problems in security, health and social fields in these regions. Together with the urbanization, the structure of neighborhood is also important from the perspectives of interactions and relations among people. Therefore, within the context of neighborhood and street concepts, it is necessary to examine the dimension of social relations within the boundaries of the neighborhood. In this study, social networks, neighborhood relations and types of living conditions of children and adults in Fikirtepe neighborhood have been examined. In addition, the history of Istanbul Fikirtepe neighborhood in the context of urban transformation project, its position in Istanbul, the social and cultural characteristics of the people living in that region are also defined. Urban renewal projects in Turkey havee been seen more as an attempt of urban renewal and change in which that renewal nd change take places not only in the social fabric, but also in the urban one. Fikirtepe squatter region after the transformation, it has been planned that only high-income people rather than lower and middle-income ones could stay there. People living in the region are worried that the transformation will not only affect the physical structure of the region, but also its social and cultural motives since they cannot live in Fikirtepe after the transformation. Therefore, in our study, the view of Fikirtepe people about the transformation is tried to be reflected by interviewing the people who represent three-generation-living in the region. Thus, the question of how the neighborhood culture and identity would be affected in historical and sociological context has been answered because after the transformation project in the neighborhood, some changes and resolutions have been seen. From the observations and interviews, the relations between the neighborhoods have already started to differentiate. In this study, the division between the social, cultural and economic expectations of the inhabitants is also presented
