Abstract:

Today, with the pace of technological development increasing, as in all practices of our lives, our ways of communication are still under the influence of tremendous innovations and changes. However, while this process extends the limits of individual accessibility, it also reinforces individuality under the domination of the cultural industry. The concept of selfie, which means selfie, also comes to us as one of the reflections of this transformation. The person who places himself in the center of the photo normalizes all the other things. But the individual who puts himself exactly in the center, ironically, becomes the victim of homogeneity and is destroyed. In other words, the "self" is absorbed and consumed by the crowd, and the rest of what is drawn is nothing but "the object of the medium." In a sense, it becomes more and more difficult to speak of punctum as Barthes said, becoming the cause of normality by turning to punctum studium.
