Abstract:

Şanlıurfa İl merkezinde bulunan ve Urfa kalesi olarak bilinen kalenin surlarının bittiği güney batı kısmında bulunan nekropol alanında kaya mezarları yer alır. Bu mezarlar, tek odalı veya iki odalı olmak üzere plan açısından değişiklik göstermektedir. Bu mezarlardan en dikkat çekici olanı ve günümüze korunarak gelmiş olanı Loculuslu kaya mezarıdır. Loculuslu kaya mezarı denilen bu tip mezarlarda ortak özellik kare ya da dikdörtgen biçimli orta mekanın yani mezar odasının bazen üç, bazen de 4 kenarından yanlara, duvarların içine doğru dörtgen kesitli derin hücrelerin (Loculus) açılmış olmasıdır. Kale eteğinde en tepe noktada yer alan bu Loculuslu mezar içerisine çok fazla sayıda ölü gömülmesi nedeniyle oldukça önemlidir.
