Abstract:

The dialectic facts are multi-word structures that are often used by those who speak English as their mother tongue and are necessary for fluency. However, these expressive facts form one of the areas of foreign language education due to their multi-significant nature and meaning changes. Although it is difficult to teach and learn vocational facts, they must be taught, because one of the main objectives of foreign language education is to prepare students to understand and use the target language in real life. In addition, these facts are one of the multi-word structures used in daily conversations by those who are native English. The purpose of this study is to determine the frequencies in the English National and Contemporary American English Association, which are two large editions of the vocational facts in the English lessons used widely in Turkey, and to determine the vocational facts used in these two editions. From this point of view, this study a) compared 100 dictionaries used in these two editions, b) identified all dictionaries in the books "New Headway", "New English File", "Face2Face" and "English Unlimited", c) found the frequency of these words in the editions, and d) was given recommendations to the material designers and teachers. Based on the fact that foreign language learners are sensitive to the frequency, the conclusion is that the number of verbal facts in the lesson books should be reviewed again.
