Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the geometric thinking levels of class teacher candidates and to identify geometric learning deficiencies. For this purpose, a mid-scale state university's educational faculty class teaching department 3 class 98 class teachers candidates who are trained in the Van Hiele Geometric Thought Test was applied. The candidates are also asked to justify their answers. With the analysis of the data, the candidates first identified the geometric thinking levels, then the learning deficiencies. Study findings indicate that class teacher candidates mostly accumulate at Level3-Simple output level and that learning deficiencies mainly arise in the form of lack of knowledge about the characteristics of the forms, the establishment of incorrect relationships between the forms, the impossibility of generalization, the impossibility of implementing the logic towards the spata and the impossibility of making output. The findings are discussed in the light of the summer.
