Bu araştırmada amaç, Türk petrogliflerinin, Batılı bir sanatçı olan A.R. Penck eserlerini nasıl etkilediğini ve şekillendirdiğini karşılaştırmalı bir şekilde irdeleyerek ortaya koymaktır. Çalışma sanatçının 20 adet eseri ile sınırlandırılmıştır ve araştırmada literatür tarama yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Göç yolları üzerinde bulunan ve Türkler tarafından yapıldığı kabul edilen petroglifler ve yazının olmadığı zamanlarda iletişim yolu olarak kullanılan tamgaların, soyut ve simgesel tasvirler şeklinde, benzer amaçlar güdülerek çeşitlendiği görülmektedir. Bu yalın biçimler, üslup arayışı içerisinde olan 20. yy Batılı sanatçılarından A.R. Penck’i etkilemiş ve sanatçı, Türk petroglif ve tamgalarından yola çıkarak özgün biçemini ortaya koymuştur. Sanatçının eserlerinde, Türklere ait Kün-Ay tamgası, dört ok simgesi, gökyüzü arabaları, ant okunduğunu işaret eden daire içerisindeki tek nokta ve yarım daire içerisindeki üç nokta, gezegen sembolleri, şaman figürleri ve tengri gibi simgeleri kullandığı ve sanatın diğer unsurlarıyla birleştirerek Neo-ekspresyonist bir anlayışla yorumladığı görülmektedir.
Through the data that emerge with this research, under the examples of A. R. Penck, it has been aimed to notice that the modern Western art was shaped under the light of those mysterious documents that reflect the Turkish culture. In this study the works of Neo-expressionist artist A. R. Penck are chosen among a few artists who had adopted the same style, and the Turkish cave paintings and stamps alongside the artist's works have been comparatively scrutinized. To give an example out of the signs and illustrations that he had used in his works, it is seen that he had used many symbols in accordance with his artistic style that belong to the Turks such as the Moon-Moon stamp, the four arrow sign, the single point inside the circle that indicates that an oath has been taken, countable stone symbols of planets, shaman and tengri figures.
