Abstract:

Karl Marx, focusing on economic and social relations, tries to explain how the capitalist society works, how feodalism is born, how classes in modern society are connected to the historical stages of their productive development. In the context of economic and social relations, he addresses the struggle of the bourgeois class, which owns productive resources, and of the proletary class, which must work, by a historical materialist view, by making the fundamental class struggles behind capitalism visible. The “theory of extradition,” the “theory of value” and the “materialist history” which are of great importance in Marxism, are the basic concepts that show how the capitalist society works and explain the evolution of the people focusing on the economic-based relations from the feudal order to the capitalist order. Through these concepts, Marx transmits epistomological information about the world of capitalism to the human being, a social and historical being, while strengthening the people’s understanding of the material world. Because thoughts and concepts depend on the material activity of people, art is the power of social change and transformation. It creates an impression of the world from the contradictions of material life. In this article, especially emphasizing the effective aspect of art, a intellectual framework was tried to draw into the socio-economic conditions of human life. In terms of the conclusions, the intellectual activity, which characterizes the interest of art in the socio-economic conditions, political influences, is challenged from the Marxist perspective. With the new art concept that emerges from the Marxist foundations, the practical objective of revolutionary nature to change the world is based on a functional art view. From here the answer to the question of what the art is considered to be characterized by economic, political, and ideological structures from the Marxist point of view is determined.
