Abstract:

The discoveries and inventions that have been done since ancient times are the source of the technology we have today, while the technology we have today will be the source of the technological developments that will happen in the future. The advances in artificial intelligence, robotic technologies and software have influenced many professions in the manufacturing, trade and service sectors and are preparing the ground for the emergence of new concepts such as robotic teachers, digital nurses, robotic reception officers, especially in the service sector. One of the services sectors in which human relations are in the forefront is the tourism sector. The tourist guidance profession, which is a sub-professional branch of the tourism sector, also takes part in the development of technology. As a result of technological developments, today robotic tourist guides provide guidance services in museums and exhibition halls in different countries of the world. Based on a broad scan of literature, this study has been attempted to identify the potential role of robotic tourist guides in the tourist guidance profession where human relationships are in the forefront. In addition to the development of robotic tourist guides over time, as well as the developments in robotic technologies, it is predicted that robotic guides will begin to provide guidance services in the open spaces in the medium or long term.
