Abstract:

In this study, the method of problem-based learning (PDÖ) has studied the impact of traditional teaching methods on social knowledge teachers candidates gain environmental awareness. The data is collected in quantitative and qualitative research models. The study’s quantum research model section tested the impact of PDÖ’s non-traditional teaching methods on students’ academic success and problem-solving skills. In the part of the quality research model, which is included in the study in order to more detailed and valid results, the students’ traditional teaching methods and the comments on the PDÖ method and the thoughts on whether the PDÖ creates an environmental consciousness in them. The 9 weeks of application resulted in complementary findings from both research models.Problem-based learning method has been found to give the student’s academic achievements and problem-solving skills to the traditional teaching methods. Students are in negative criticisms of traditional teaching methods, while they are in positive criticisms of the PDÖ method. According to research findings, the problem-based learning method contributes to the formation of environmental awareness in students who do not have environmental awareness. It has also identified the possibility that students with a certain level of environmental awareness also increase the level of awareness and some behavioral changes occur in their daily lives.
