Abstract:

The purpose of the study is to compare the influence of traditional teacher-centered teaching in the Social Information Course with the students' academic achievements and attitudes towards the course and to reveal the students' views on the applications. Working group 2009-2010 educational year Elazığ district center of Bahçelievler Primary School is composed of 49 students who study in 6th grade. In research, qualitative research patterns have been used together. In the quantum section of the study, a experimental model with the pre-test-sontest control group was used. Students are divided into two groups as a experiment and control group. In the control group, the traditional teacher-centered method was used while in the experiment group, the Basamakli Teaching Program was used. The success test consisting of 40 questions in obtaining data and the attitude scale developed by the Emir (2001) have been used by the interview form in the collection of quality data. Testinortal difficulty is 0.54 and KR-20 is 0.82. The study found that the experimental group of students in which the Degree Teaching Program was used was more successful than the control group of students in which the traditional method was used. Students in the experiment group have found that their class orientations are more positive. In the quality size of the research, five sub-themes related to the application process of the Basamakli Teaching Program have been determined. The research results have developed suggestions that the Degree Teaching Program can be applied in different classes, in different classes.
