Abstract:

This article aims to open up a series of ideas to debate in Turkey as the leading advocate of liberal thinking and liberal thinking, so that LDT can be more effective than it is already. It is understood that talking about a single liberalism or a liberal tradition is misleading. There are different liberal traditions, which are the product of a certain time and place, and therefore formed by the problems, perspectives and limitations of the time and place. These different liberal traditions do not always offer "universal" recipes that apply everywhere, except for a few very basic principles. Secondly, it is claimed that our analysis and readings about Turkey should be fed by a comparative history and social sciences accumulation while also carrying a real local concern. And finally, it is also argued that the community environment should make more efforts to protect the distance with political actors, to protect and develop its own pluralism, to transform the embedded LDT and liberal perception, and to strengthen a corporate culture that we can also call LDT.
