Abstract:

In this study, participating banks and commercial banks operating in Turkey were analyzed. The analysis of the banks was carried out using the data of the pre-crisis period (2005-2008), the crisis period (2008-2011) and the post-crisis period (2011-2015). In total, 13 banks (3 participating banks, 10 commercial banks) were taken into the work. The financial performance of the banks has been assessed. In this period, the bank has been left out of consideration due to the end of Asian activities. The financial data used in the analysis was collected from the Banking Regulation and Supervisory Authority (BDDK), the Turkish Banking Union (TBB), the Turkish Participating Banking Union (TKBB) and the relevant websites. The performance of the banks is measured by the method of topics from multiple criteria of decision making. The result of the study is that Turkey has performed better than expected in the other countries because it has taken its measures after the 2001 crisis. The financial performance of commercial banks is successful before and after the global crisis, while the performance of participating banks in the period of global crisis is well observed. While commercial banks appear in the first place before or after the crisis, the crisis year (2008) shows that the participating banks perform better and are more profitable in terms of their financial values.
