Abstract:

This research, which is about the relationship between the perception of instructional leadership of primary school administrators and their use of time, was applied to the principal and assistant principals working at the primary school level of state schools in the provinces of Şişli and Beyoğlu in the province of Istanbul in 2017-2018 academic year. The study group constitutes 73 primary school administrators, 32 of which are directors and 41 are deputy principals. The questionnaire containing demographic information was collected through the "Instructional Leadership Perceptions Scale" and the "Time Usage Scale". The research was analyzed by descriptive quantitative method and the data obtained in the research were analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows 22.0 program. When we look at the main results of the research, the average of the instructional leadership scale of the principal and assistant principals is high. It can be said that the levels of instructional leadership behaviors of both managers and assistant principals are very high. Perceptions of the level of instructional leadership behaviors of the principal and assistant principals do not differ significantly according to the teaching seniority, the type / level of school they have previously worked in, the weekly working hours, the level of management, and the status of the school. When managers use the time levels of time scale subscales, it is determined that they spend time on parents, school, district (mem), teachers, students, office and personal affairs respectively. It has been determined that assistant principals spend time with parents, district (mem), school, office, students, teachers and personal affairs.
