Abstract:

The aim of the study is to describe the bibliometric characteristics of the crisis management research written in Turkey between 1992 and 2017 by illustrating the general trends related to the area and revealing the academic accumulation. For this purpose, 161 master and doctoral theses, which contain the keyword "Crisis Management" in the title of the postgraduate thesis, have been studied with the technique of content analysis. The quantitative increase in the theses shows parallel with the diversity in the research subjects. In the study, 25 research subjects have been revealed. However, the number of business themes is a lot of concern. The keywords used in parallel with the diversity of subjects also show diversity. A total of 185 different keywords are used and the average number of keywords used is five. "Crisis Management" was the first word often used, while the concept of "Crisis" was the second word used. The other 183 keywords used are closely related to the diversity of the thesis subjects studied in different disciplines. The first three ranges of the types of scientific resources referred to in the theses consist of Turkish-written books, articles and theses, especially on business management and crisis management. This situation shows the existence of permanent and classical works in the Turkish literature and that there are quite a lot of Turkish writers who have contributed to the literature of crisis management. However, the topics of crisis management are not to be focused on specific journals in the fields of non-reference.

The quantitative increase of the theses is in line with the diversity of research subjects. In this study, 25 research topics are explained. However, there is a large number of theses related to business issues. The used keywords also vary in parallel with the variety of subjects. A total of 185 different keywords have been used and the average number of used keywords is five. “Crisis Management” and “Crisis” have been the most commonly used keywords. The other 183 keywords are closely related to the diversity of the thesis topics studied in different disciplines. The first three ranks of scientific sources consist of books, articles, and theses written in Turkish, especially in the field of business and crises management. This situation shows a quite high existence of Turkish writers who contribute to the business and crisis management literature with permanent and classical studies. However, the fact that specific journals related to crisis management are not found among the most frequently cited subjects is one of the issues that have to be considered.
