Mahremiyetin Dönüşümü: Ünlülerin Instagram Paylaşımları Üzerine Bir Araştırma

Sosyal medya gizli olan şeklinde tanımlanan mahremiyet kavramı üzerinde yeniden düşünmeye sevk etmektedir. Bu sanal mecrada bireylerin yaptıkları paylaşımlar mahremiyetin sınırlarını zorlamaktadır. Bireyler bu yeni mecrada kendilerini daha özgür hissetmekte ve daha cesur paylaşımlarda bulunmaktadırlar. Bu durumun etkisiyle bireyin mahremiyetine ilişkin olanlar bir kamusal alan olan sosyal medyada da sergilenmektedir.  Bireyler günlük hayatlarında çoğu kişiyle paylaşmaktan çekindikleri mahrem alanlarına ilişkin özel alanlarında çekilen fotoğraf ve videoları sosyal ağlarda takipçileriyle paylaşmaktan kaçınmamaktadırlar. Mahremiyet algısının McLuhan’ın teknolojik belirleyicilik yaklaşımı bağlamında ele alındığı bu çalışmanın amacı sosyal ağlarda yapılan paylaşımlar sonucu mahrem alanın sınırının belirsizleşmesini ve mahremiyet anlayışının aşınmasını ortaya koymaktır.  Bu amaçla ünlü olarak nitelendirilen toplumda ön plana çıkan bireylerin popüler sosyal medya araçlarından Instagram’daki kişisel paylaşımları incelenmiştir.  Araştırma kapsamında bir sosyal medya sistemi olan ve sosyal medya hesaplarının ölçümlerini yayınlayan “boomscial.com” adlı siteden Instagram Türkiye raporlarına ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmada betimleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Medyatik anlamda ünlü kişilerin isimlerine ulaşılabilecek sektörlerden takipçi sayısı en fazla olan 10 ünlü seçilmiştir.  Araştırmanın örneklemini toplamda 4 farklı sektörden 40 ünlü oluşturmaktadır. Seçilen 40 ünlünün Instagram hesaplarından mahrem alanlarının ifşasına yönelik olan paylaşımlar seçilerek içerik analizine tabi tutulmuştur. İnceleme sonucunda ünlülerin %22’sinin özel alanlarında çekilen fotoğrafları paylaştıkları görülmektedir. Yapılan fotoğraf paylaşımlarına alınan en fazla beğeninin takipçi sayısına oranı % 8,2 olurken, en az oranı ise % 0,2 olmuştur. Bu ünlülerin paylaştıkları diğer içerikler incelendiğinde, takipçilerinin ünlülerin milliyetçilik gibi duygularına hitap eden, meslekleriyle ilgili olan ve kamusal alanlarda bulunduklarını gösteren içerikleri daha fazla beğendikleri görülmektedir. Bu noktadan hareketle ünlülerin mahremlerini paylaşma eğiliminin başlamasına karşılık, takipçilerde mahremi takip etme eğiliminin olmadığı anlaşılmaktadır. Bu çalışma toplumumuzda bilişim teknolojileri ile günden güne değişen mahremiyet algısının boyutlarını ortaya koyması açısından önem taşımaktadır.

The Conversion of Privacy: A Survey on Famous Instagram Shares

Social media leads people to rethink the concept of privacy, which is defined as what is secret. Shares of individuals on this virtual medium push the boundaries of privacy. Individuals feel more free in this new medium and are sharing more bravely. Under the influence of this situation, content related to the privacy of the individual is also exhibited in social media, a public space. Individuals do not refrain from sharing their photos and videos, taken in their private space, with their followers on social networks, whereas they often hesitate to share them with others in their daily lives. The aim of this study, in which the perception of privacy is addressed in the context of McLuhan’s technological determinism approach, is to put forth the corrosion of the concept of privacy and the boundaries of private life as a result of shares on social platforms. For this purpose, the personal shares of individuals in the forefront of society, defined as celebrities, on the popular social media tool Instagram have been examined. In the scope of this research, Instagram Turkey reports from the website "boomsocial.com", which publishes the measurements of social media accounts, have been accessed. The description method is used in the study. 10 famous people with the greatest number of followers were selected from the sectors where the names of famous people can be reached. The sample of the research consists of 40 celebrities from 4 different sectors in total. In the Instagram accounts of the selected 40 people, the shares towards disclosure of private space were selected and analyzed by content analysis method. As a result of the study, it is seen that 22% of famous people share photographs taken in private areas. The highest ratio of the number of likes received to the number of followers for the shared photos is 8.2% while the minimum ratio is 0.2%. When the other content shared by these celebrities is examined, it is seen that followers are more likely to appreciate a content, which evokes feelings of nationalism, is related to their profession, or shows that they are in public spaces. It is understood that there is no tendency of followers to follow the private life, although there is a new tendency of famous people to share their private life. This study is important, as it puts forth the perception of privacy in our society
