Events that leave permanent marks on social memory are among the significant factors that result in literary works. Loss of Ottoman lands due to wars lost against European nations caused the mass migration of Muslim population living on these lands within a shrinking circle to Anatolia. Especially during the time period that coincided with the fall over of the Ottoman Empire and Balkan wars, a mass migration occurred towards mainly Istanbul and other Anatolian cities. The present study scans all 38 published volumes of İleri Yavrutürk (Progressive Turkish Youth) magazine between 1976 and 1977 to identify children’s stories about war and immigration. Identified manuscripts were scrutinized based on their messages for child readers and the methods that these messages were communicated with. It was observed that scenes containing extreme violence were included in certain examples to underline the significance of patriotism. In the present study where the fine line between the child readers acquiring various values and taking a dislike in literature and books due to fear and violence was stressed, short summaries of the manuscripts scrutinized were also included
