Abstract:

Teaching mathematics via using computer related informative technology is called computer aided instruction. Computer literacy can be defined as the skill of utilizing computer. And the aim of this study is to find out the opinions of the primary school mathematics teacher candidates about the relation between computer literacy and computer assisted mathematics teaching. Making clinical interviews with 95 teacher candidates who study at the Department of Elementary Mathematics Teacher Education, The Fırat University, Faculty of Education, we collected some data. The results show that the teacher candidates think it is impossible to carry out computer assisted mathematics teaching without being computer literate. For computer assisted mathematics teaching, it is necessary that individuals acquire computer literacy.
