Abstract. The purpose of this study is to explore the different grades of Pre-service Science Teachers’ (PST) knowledge involving the topic of Renewable Energy Sources (RES). 36 Pre-service Science Teachers in their first, second, third and fourth grade in the Department of Mathematics and Science Education Program during 2014-2015 academic years participated in the study. The open-ended test was used to determine the different grades of PSTs’ knowledge in the topic of RES. The individual interviews were conducted with all PSTs from after applying the open-ended questionnaires in order to profoundly clarify their understandings about RES. The content analysis method was used for the data analysis. The results showed that the PSTs’ knowledge was inadequate in the topic of RES.
