The aim of this study is to evaluate the literacy campaigns in Turkey critically and point out the misusage of techniques and methods in practice and to provide information and guidance on methods and techniques that might be used adult literacy in terms of the principles of adult education. Adult education aims to supply adults with skills and knowledge that may lead the adults to change their attitudes, beliefs and actions. To carry out this, it is necessary to help adults to take part in the process of the programs that are organized for them. It is not possible for a programme to be carried out without taking into consideration the adults and their expectations
