In the study, it was attemped to determine curriculum standards of social studies teaching and use of these standards in faculties, based on opinions of teaching staff, teacher candidates and teachers. The population of the study that is in the model of relationship survey included teaching staff and teacher candidates from Social Studies Departments of Faculties of Education at Gazi (Kastamonu), Celal Bayar and Selçuk Üniversities and graduate teachers from these departments, who are employees of state schools. It was aimed to reach all of the sub-populations, teaching staff and teacher candidates. For social studies teachers, sampling method was used. 129 social studies teachers graduated from these universities were included in the sample. There were three questionnaire forms that were prepared to reveal the views of the groups. Frequencies and percentages were used to determine appropriateness of the standards. An analysis of variance and Scheffe Test were used to test if there is any significant difference between the groups’ opinions concerning importance level, and a t-test was used to observe, if there is any significant difference between the groups’ opinions concerning their actual use. For the related samples, a t-test was used to determine if there is any significant difference between the importance level and the actual use. According to the finding of the study, the standards in five dimensions were largely considered suitable. Teaching staff and the teacher candidates found all of the standards more important, when compared to the teachers. They stated that the importance level of the standards was higher than their actual use.
