Persuasiveness is regarded as a text type. Using persuasive text in education would be a kind of practice which prepares learners for future experiences with self-confidence. That is because persuasion is a must for a successful communication. In this respect, written or oral persuasion studies have not been included in Turkish language teaching despite their potential contributions. This study aims to explain how persuasion is considered in education. With this purpose, Australian lesson materials and Turkish curriculum have been studied. How persuasiveness was mentioned and the writing approaches and activities used to convey persuasiveness have been clarified. In result, a contribution to the writing processes and activities of learners has been aimed. The results showed that persuasiveness was included in Australian lesson materials of all levels at schools as a text type and through a task-based vision. Yet, persuasiveness is not a part of Turkish curriculum (primary and secondary schools). This concept exists only in the curriculum of primary schools as a method-technique. Also, it is mentioned as an attainment: “Students can write persuasive text”. Writing approach is mentioned with an activity, contrary to Australian curriculum. Finally, the study claims that persuasiveness and task-based writing approach should be highlighted.
