The effectiveness of origami practices, the most difficult shapes for students while making origami and mathematical terms that were discovered during origami practices by students were examined in this study according to the students’ opinions about using origami activities in maths courses. This qualitative study was carried out with 17 fourth and fifth grade students. Data were gathered by semi-structured interview. It was found out that origami activities facilitate understanding maths and geometry. In addition to this, it was determined that there are some mathematical terms that students noticed in this process. Moreover, it was observed that students had fun while doing origami activities but they had difficulty in some long-step shapes
