Shahrangiz are special poems written for describing the beauty of cities and providing information about the details of their beautifulness. These poems are important since they offer historical and folkloric information about cities. In Turkish literature, these kind of epic poems are especially developed and espoused by Rumelian poets. There are three examples of the epic poems written by Maksadi. Maksadi is a poet whose name is not so seen in the main literature and biografic sources. As we know from his poems, he lived in the late part of 16th century. His poems are given place in the first seventeen leafs of the anthology book (mecmua), Ankara National Library, Catalogue of National Maniscrupts. In these poems, there are two shahrangizs written for the city of Vardar Yenicesi and one for the city of Ishtip. In the Turkish literature, besides of Maksadi’s shahrangiz, there are other epic poems written for the city of Yenice by Usuli, Hayreti and Za’fi. In the first shahrangiz for Vardar Yenicesi, there are 65 couplets. There are 25 different people are praised in this shahrangiz for Vardar Yenicesi. In the second shahrangiz for Vardar Yenicesi, there are 188 couplets and 28 people are praised. The third shahrangiz of Maksadi is about Ishtip. Following to Za’fi’s shahrangiz, this was the second shahrangiz related to Ishtip in the Turkish literature. This shahrangiz also includes 22 couplets and praises ten people from the city.
