Problematics in Dede Korkut Text have been tried to be solved with hundreds of researches for almost two hundred years. Although some of them have been solved, there are still some problems waiting to be solved. One of these is the controversial word which has been read as ḳaytaban and discussed by semantically/structually in the previous publications of the Dede Korkut Text. In this essay after giving the opinions of the researchers about this subject, I will give my own evaluation. We think that, the word ḳaytaban is correct orthographically to the Dede Korkut Text, but still is not a one explained wholly by means of semantically and structually. The aim of this essay is to be able to explain the structure and the true meaning of the word in question.
