Özet:

Although one of its roots is related to the biological sex, gender essentially envisages the roles of man and woman in the historical process of culture. It is obvious that gender roles, which cannot be transferred through genetic codes like biological sex can, but are expected to be maintained as if they are some sort of a genetic heritage, are not shaped around a certain rule, contrariwise, they consist of constructed roles. When it is sought to answer questions like in what way these roles in the societies are represented, how they continue their existence in the historical process, what sort of changes they have been through, social dynamics draw attention as being an important source. The presence of gender codes can be observed in several fields, such as from media to fashion; from use of language to the choice of profession; from writing to sports, and it is thought that the perception of gender can be set forth by analysing these codes. Within the scope of this study, the “masculine=power” relation in the Book of Dede Korkut, which has an important place from historical point of view and presents social dynamics through a broad perspective, has been examined and the impasse of this relation has been analysed. The masculine-power in question has been evaluated in three stages; and the battle of men to obtain power which is imposed by the society has been presented at first stage, the struggle of men to preserve the obtained power has done so at the second stage, and how the obtained power affects ideational and emotional world of men has been revealed at the last stage.
