Makalemizde kendisi de bir muhacir olan Necati Cumalı’nın Viran Dağlarromanında işlenen göç olgusu üzerinde durduk. Makedonyalı bir uç beyi olan Zülfikar Bey’in hayatının anlatıldığı romana eşlik eden Balkan Savaşı ve savaşın bir sonucu olarak göç hadisesi romanın ana eksenini oluşturmaktadır. Romanda dikkat çeken husus, göçün, sosyolojik ve psikolojik boyutlarıyla işlenmiş olmasıdır. Romanda, Makedonyalı Müslüman halkları göçe mecbur eden sebepler üzerinde özellikle durulmuş, çalışmamızda da bu hususlara dikkat çekilmiştir.
