(IMF – Turkey Relations and Banking Sector) In this study, foundation purpose of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and its changing role in time and its importance for the global economy is evaluated. The main roles of the IMF are to solve the balance of payments problems of the members, to develop the international trade and economy is analyzed with respect to the country applications. The successes and the failures of the IMF policies are designed with the institutional critics. The special emphasis is given to the Turkish – IMF relations and Stand – By Agreements are investigated parallel to the historical era. The Annual meetings of World Bank and IMF took place in Istanbul in October 2009 and their decisions are considered with their impacts on Turkish Economy and Banking sector.
