The aim of this study was to compare the critical thinking skills of academicians that conduct science education courses at education faculties from the different variables such as gender and branch examine their views about critical thinking skills and developing of these skills in science education process. This study was conducted according to case study methodology. The working group composed of 30 academicians who employee at the science teacher training program of two universities at Eastern Karadeniz Region. In the study, as data collecting tools were used California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory (CCTDI) which translated to Turkish by Kökdemir (2003) and semi-structured interview form. Because the data have the normal distribution, independent samples t-test and the one way ANOVA was used for analysis of the collected data from the questionnaire. Interview data were analyzed contently. It was seen that academicians’ critical thinking skills were no a significant difference between academicians’ gender and branches variables; although academicians have sufficient knowledge about critical thinking skills they could not use sufficiently activities to develop prospective science teachers’ critical thinking skills in their teaching process.
