The development of technoparcs where innovation and research and development activities (R&D) which forms the motor force of growth and employment creation is new in Turkey. The the legal basis for technoparcs in Turkey, defined as centers producing technology and high value added products, is the Law Number 4691 dated 06.07.2001 on Technology Development Regions . It is possible to conclude from the research data that there has been a notable increase in the number of technoparc employees in Turkey. The aim of this study is to examine the employment creation capacity of technoparc investments which has been rapidly increasing since 2001 and the structural features of the employment created. However in order to offset the insufficiency of data on the subject, information particularly on the field of activities and employment conditions in the technoparcs have been secured through face to face interviews with the technoparc managers limited to the city of Ankara. The results of this study can be evaluated at two levels as micro and macro. The study has reached the conclusion at the micro level that employment creation capacity of the technocity investments has been high and will be developing further; at macro level the conclusion was reached that it would not be meaningful to suggest the contribution of technocities to economic growth in Turkey or that such contribution was very limited. The fact that at macro level the conclusions reached were not meaningful may be attributed to the fact that the long term effects of technocity activities have yet to be seen.
