Abstract:

This study examines the policy of the Russian Federation in Ukraine in the context of close environmental doctrine. Specifically in the recent period in Ukraine, after events between Russian supporters and EU-supportive Ukrainian citizens, the focus was on Russian military intervention. The study was limited to Russia’s intervention in Ukraine in 2014 and the underlying reasons. The study concluded that the approximation of the West with Ukraine, the strategic importance of Crimea and the Russian minorities have led to the Russian Federation’s intervention in Ukraine. Specifically we focal Russian military intervention after conflicts that took place between Russian supporters in Ukraine and Ukrainian citizens who were supporters of the EU. This paper is limited to Russia’s intervention in Ukraine in 2014 and the reasons of its bases. We concluded that the Russian Federation intervened in Ukraine because of the warmer relations between the West and Ukraine, the strategic importance of Crimea and the existence of a Russian minority.
