Knowledge and conscience of history are not only to know and understand past events, but also to understand present and shape future. One way to give historical knowledge in an appropriate way is to analyze outputs of current teaching. This study aims to identify historical knowledge and perspectives of teachers. Interests of teachers to history, their follow-up resources, critical history understanding, perspectives of current history teaching and recommendations are examined. Sample of research consists of 304 teachers from different branches working in primary and secondary schools in a province with population of about 100 thousand in Eastern Anatolia. In addition to questions about demography, it is aimed to collect data by preparing appropriate questions for purpose of study. Obtained data were coded and analyzed in SPSS 17 program. Independent t-test was used to compare answers given to questions according to participants’ characteristics such as gender, age, education status, graduation area, but significant correlations and differences were not found. The data obtained from the sample were classified according to purpose of study with descriptive statistics and perspectives of teachers were examined.
